Mombasa to serve as port for Mozambique coal shipments to Kenya

MOZAMBIQUE President Filipe Nyusi has announced that his country will begin shipping coal to Kenya through Mombasa port, starting from this coming January.
Speaking to journalists during a visit to the port, President Nyusi was quoted as saying in a report by Dar es Salaam Citizen: "The private sector should make use of the opportunities created by the two countries."
Deputy President William Ruto who accompanied Mr Nyusi on his tour said Kenya is increasing capital and human investment at the port.
According to him, the government is also leveraging cutting-edge technology and infrastructure to improve cargo handling, storage facilities and boost competitiveness.
Mr Ruto later hosted the Mozambican leader at state house in Mombasa where they held private talks and joined some of the Makonde people who turned up to interact with President Nyusi.
The deputy president said the integration of the Makonde people into the Kenyan society shows that the country has embraced inclusivity.
