GERMANY's Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) saw its profits after tax rise by 6.1 per cent in the first nine months of the year thanks to its port logistics sub-group, where January to September revenue rose 2.2 per cent year on year to US$$1 billion.
Growth in that area was primarily attributed to container throughput growth, which was up by one per cent to 5.5 million TEU due to a strong showing in its Far East terminals, London's Port Technology reported.
The results are strong enough for HHLA to reaffirm its optimistic outlook for the remainder of the financial year, including its goal of matching its revenue and container throughput from 2017.
Commenting on the results, HHLA chairwoman Angela Titzrath said: "We will safely reach the targets set for 2018 despite an ever-changing market environment. We are further strengthening our core business through investments so that we can meet the future needs of our customers.
"Equally important is our search for new digital business fields."
