MOL gas carrier LNG Fukurokuju rescues a man off Papua New Guinea

JAPANESE shipping giant Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) announced that its gas LNG carrier LNG Fukurokuju safely rescued a man adrift in a small craft 330 km off New Ireland, Papua New Guinea.
The castaway was found in the late afternoon on November 26 from the 83,809-dwt LNG Fukurokuju, was underway northeast of New Ireland.
The ship spotted the man who was calling for help. The vessel immediately started rescue activities, and rescued him at 18:30 on the same day.
At 06:52 on the next day, the survivor was handed over to the local authorities off Lihir Island of Papua New Guinea, upon instructions of the Papua New Guinea Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres.
