Iran's top shipping line, IRISL, to re-open office in South Africa

ISLAMIC Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) plans to re-open an office in South Africa. The shipping line had been forced to close its previous office in South Africa during the imposition of economic sanctions.
The implementation of the July 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the world's major powers has created a favourable atmosphere for Iran on the international stage to expand its shipping lines and marine transportation, according IRISL's managing director, Mohammad Saeedi.
He was referring to the Iran Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reported Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
The new situation created in the wake of the introduction of the JCPOA has prepared the ground for the expansion of marine transportation and IRISL's fleet, as well as eased the import and export of goods for Iranian businessmen and producers, said Mr Saeedi.
With regards to some ports in other countries, Mr Saeedi said the shipping line prefers to act independently.
Following the implementation of the JCPOA, some 90 per cent of the Iranian ships carry Iran's flag, he added.
