US manufacturers thank Congress for tax relieve bill

THE National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) thanked the US House or Representative for passing the long-sought tariff relief bill.
"This is a big deal for manufacturers," said NAM president and CEO Jay Timmons. "Manufacturers and other businesses face what amounts to a nearly US$1 million-a-day tax every additional day this issue goes unresolved."
That's because of "billions of dollars in burdensome tariffs that companies have had to pay since the last Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) Act expired in 2013", he said.
"That's just for buying the supplies they need to build products in America. That's why we are now looking to the Senate to act quickly to get this tariff relief to the President for his signature," said Mr Timmons.
Manufacturers and the US economy started 2018 strong, he said. "Passing legislation like this will help keep the momentum going," Mr Timmons said.
