Asia-Europe rate remains flat at US$779/TEU, USWC down at $1,439/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday remained flat at US$779 per TEU, while the Shanghai-Mediterranean run was also flat at $745 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
The SCFI recorded a 2.2 per cent drop on the Shanghai-US west coast leg to $1,439 per FEU while the Shanghai-US east coast run saw rates drop 1.5 per cent to $2,502 per FEU.
"By comparison to the same week of 2018 both west and east coast spot rates remain some 6 per cent above those levels," the The Loadstar of UK reported.
