China's raises long-haul 2018 truck volumes 5.3pc to 249.8 million TEU

CHINA's Ministry of Transport has posted a 5.3 per cent year on year annual increase in long distance truck volume to 249.8 million TEU, or 2.43 billion tonnes, in 2018.
Last year China moved 39.57 billion tonnes of cargo inside the country, an increase of 7.3 per cent over 2017. In 2018, China racked up 7.12 trillion ton-kilometres of freight transport, up 6.7 per cent year on year.
The weight of containerised freight is going up too, reported New York's FreightWaves. In 2018, it stood at 2.43 billion tonnes, up 5.8 per cent year on year.
