THE Airforwarders Association (AfA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) to create an alliance that will enable the organisations to strengthen cooperation on aviation issues.
Through the alliance the associations will participate in each other's events; practice mutual promotion through social media; engage in ongoing consultation and cooperation; exchange information on upcoming activities and events; invite members to represent the alliance at global and regional conferences; organise joint events; and conduct capacity building activities.
"The alliance between these two organisations will benefit the many members and associates of both of our associations," AfA chairman Chris Connell was quoted as saying in a report by Logistics Management based in Framingham, Massachusetts.
"We are looking forward to the future opportunities that will come from this MoU," said AfA executive director Brandon Fried.
TIACA secretary general Vladimir Zubkov will attend the AfA board meeting that will be held during AirCargo 2018 in Austin, Texas. The AfA board will in turn attend TIACA's Air Cargo Forum to be held in Toronto in October.
AfA represents the interests of companies and individuals that are engaged in the air freight industry and operate within the United States. AfA's membership includes domestic and foreign freight forwarders, direct air carriers, ground carriers and affiliated businesses throughout the global transportation community.
TIACA is a global non-profit trade association that represents all major segments of the air cargo and air logistics industry. It engages in activities that help improve industry cooperation, enable knowledge sharing and promote education. It also informs the public about developments and trends within the air cargo industry.
