TIANJIN Airlines has started offering a new route from Sydney to Tianjin via Zhengzhou since the end of January, making it the carrier's second transcontinental flight to Australia.
The new service is operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Tianjin Airlines deputy chairman Zhao Guoqiang said: "We are delighted to announce our new service from Sydney to Zhengzhou and Tianjin. Sydney is the centre of culture, economy and tourism in Australia. Many Chinese people live in this great city. With this new route, we hope it will further enhance cultural and economic exchanges between China and Australia."
This new route also initiates the carriers' international student programme, which echoes the "Australia New Colombo plan". The airline plans to provide Australian students who satisfy certain requirements with free tickets to fly to China and study at Chinese universities in order to enhance Australia-China cultural exchanges and the mobility of talents.
In the future Tianjin Airlines said it will launch more air routes from Australia to China, providing more choices for international students to visit and study in China.
