Asia-Europe rates surge 12pc to US$754/TEU, USWC dips 6.9pc to $1,433/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday soared 12.2 per cent to US$754 per TEU, while the Shanghai-Mediterranean rates were up 3.3 per cent to $718 per TEU, according to theShanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
The SCFI recorded a 6.9 per cent decline on the Shanghai-US west coast leg to $1,433 per FEU while China-US east coast rates fell 3.1 per cent to $2,800 per FEU.
