“Maersk Master is a premium asset that is second to none in terms of operational reliability, onboard safety, comfort, and fuel-efficiency. The high quality of services can help to keep assets at work in the current tough market. This vessel has been carefully developed based on how best to provide value to our customers,” says Chief Executive Officer Steen S. Karstensen.

Maersk Master is a DP2 deepwater anchor handling tug supply vessel of SALT design. The vessel was built at Kleven Yard in Norway with reliability, safety and minimize environmental footprint as a top priority. Powered by five engines, a fuel efficient and flexible hybrid propulsion system and fixed pitch on all side thrusters, the vessel provides good fuel economy, low emissions, and excellent station keeping.

There is an ROV garage for 1 work-class remotely operated vehicle. This capacity, along with the large free deck area, and the 450-tonne winch, make Maersk Master a versatile asset For example in a decommissioning project Maersk Supply Service was able to spool 6.5km of flexible pipeline onto the winch in one complete section.

“Since joining the fleet, Maersk Master has worked on decommissioning in the North Sea to towing and mooring in the Indian Ocean. In March she will begin a long-term contract with sister vessel, Maersk Mariner, working for Quadrant Energy in Australian waters. We are certain she will continue to add value to the industry, our customers, and Maersk Supply Service for many years to come,” said Chief Operating Officer Claus Bachmann in his acceptance speech.

Two additional M-class vessels have already joined the Maersk SuppLy Service fleet Maersk Mariner and Maersk Mover, following Maersk Master’s delivery. The remaining three vessels will be delivered later in 2018 and in 2019.
