THE International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) together with IHS Maritime & Trade have organised an interactive panel discussion to examine a common way forwards to optimise vessel port calls. The session will be held on September 10 at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square during the London International Shipping Week.
"Port call optimisation is a subject which is receiving increasingly more attention by ports and the shipping industry in general," said IAPH managing director Patrick Verhoeven.
"The recent positive outputs from the IMO-led project on Global Maritime Energy Efficiency Partnerships (GloMEEP) and the IMO [International Maritime Organisation] resolution on cooperation between the port and shipping sectors to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships are proof of that," he said.
Speakers at the panel discussion will include International Task Force on Port Call Optimisation chairman Ben van Scherpenzeel, and technical officer Camille Bourgeon of the IMO's marine environment division.
