Asia-Europe up 3.1pc to US$729/TEU, USWC off 3.5pc to $1,532/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday soared 3.1 per cent to US$729 per TEU.
Asia-Mediterranean rates slipped 1.9 per cent to $721 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index(SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai-US west coast fell 3.5 per cent to $1,532 per FEU while China-US east coast declined 1.2 per cent to $2,572 per FEU.
