Emirates orders 50 Airbus aircraft for US$16 billion at Dubai Airshow

THE largest order announced so far at the Dubai Airshow held in the emirate from November 17-21 was placed by Dubai-based Emirates' for 50 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft worth US$16 billion.
That order replaces an earlier agreement of intent from Emirates to purchase 30 A350s and 40 A330 neos, reported London's Air Cargo News.
In a separate development, Air Arabia inked a deal with Airbus worth $14 billion at list prices to buy a total of 120 new aircraft, comprising a mix of narrowbody A320 neos, A321 neos and A321 XLRs.
It was recently confirmed that the Sharjah-based airline, which currently operates a fleet of 53 Airbus aircraft, will take part in a joint venture with Abu Dhabi's Etihad in new enterprise Air Arabia Abu Dhabi.
US aircraft manufacturer Boeing sold a pair of B787-9s worth $585 million at list prices to Biman Bangladesh Airlines. A number of orders for smaller aircraft have also been placed with manufacturers Boeing, Airbus and Embraer.
Etihad Airways and Boeing also announced plans for a world-first 'Greenliner' at the show.
A specially themed B787 'Dreamliner', set to be introduced in early 2020, is to research products, procedures and initiatives designed to lower aircraft carbon emissions.
