    MSC starts rail freight service from Spain to Portugal April 4

    MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company (MSC) is to commence from April 4 a new freight rail freight service between Seville in Spain and the Atlantic.

    The daily service will run between Seville's inland port of Puerto de Sevilla and the coastal hub port of Sines in Portugal with a capacity of 100 TEU per return journey, reports New York's Maritime Professional. 

    Shippers will have the possibility to obtain customs clearance for cargo at Seville's inland maritime port before onward carriage to markets in Sines and the Atlantic. 

    The shipping line's new rail freight service in intended to improve connectivity and accelerate transit times for exporters based in Spain's southern and western regions to enable them to reach markets in the Americas and northern Europe. 

    The service is operated in conjunction with Medway, MSC's logistics subsidiary in Iberia.
