C H Robinson buys The Space Cargo Group in US$48m merger

C H Robinson Worldwide Inc has acquired Spanish ocean and air freight forwarder The Space Cargo Group for US$48 million in cash.
Headquartered in Madrid, Space Cargo will be integrated into C H Robinson's global forwarding division and technology platform, Navisphere.
Space Cargo has 2,500 customers with seven offices in Spain and one in Colombia. It finished its fiscal year with $84 million in gross revenues, reported American Shipper.
"We look forward to working with Space Cargo's customers to offer our full suite of logistics services to enhance their supply chains," said C H Robinson CEO-elect Bob Biersterfeld.
"Space Cargo's leadership, expertise and strong customer and carrier relationships, combined with C H Robinson's global service offerings and network, will also create more robust capabilities for our customers and add scale to our business."
C H Robinson's global forwarding business currently serves five continents and 32 countries.
