Asia-Europe up 4.4pc to US$800/TEU, USWC up 7.4pc to $1,509/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday jumped 9.1 per cent to US$766 per TEU.
Asia-Mediterranean rates increased 5.6 per cent to $771 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai-US west coast jumped 7.4 per cent to $1,509 per FEU while China-US east coast fell 14.4 per cent to $2,256 per FEU.
