IN a field where useful websites are the exception and not the rule, Singapore's leading non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) CWT Globelink's Internet offering explains itself and its services as few others do.

And its services are as comprehensive as its website, spanning the globe as name implies, reaching into the United States and Europe. As its website says, CWT Globelink gives every evidence of delivering reliability, efficiency, flexibility and achieving our motto: 'In Unity, We Link The Globe', "

In China, CWT Globelink, a wholly owned subsidiary of CWT Pte Limited, has own offices including Beijing, Dalian, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Shijiazhuang, Tianjin, Qingdao, Xiamen and Xian.

More than 100 offices in 31 countries including Australia, Bulgaria, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Egypt, Guatemala, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mauritius, Morocco, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

In addition to NVOCC shipments, CWT Globelink group also undertakes project cargo, value added activities including repacking, re-palletisation and customs clearance.

This would include import/export documentation and door to door transportation to meet all customers' requirements. The group also delivers multi-modal transportation solutions incorporating airfreight, sea freight and land transportations.

Globelink is the go-to outfit to provide landbridge rail service to Europe - lately from Wuhan to Hamburg. This is on top of our first weekly rail service Chengdu to Lodz launched in 2018.

Rail freight is faster than by ocean, and is more cost effective than air. Cargo suitable for rail movement includes electronics, automotive parts and machineries etc - which are often needed for just-in-time manufacturing.

Wuhan is ideally located in Central China, and convenient for pre-carriage pickup of cargo from all over China, with transit time of two to four days.

CWT Globelink also reminds shippers of the rules. "With increasing incidents where there are loss of lives, loss of assets and cargoes, significant costs incurred and delays, carriers have decided to implement fines for any misdeclared or undeclared dangerous goods," warned the company website.

"Evergreen was the first major carrier who announced misdeclaration fines, ranging from US$4,000 to $35,000, with Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, OOCL and other carriers following suit. Hapag-Lloyd has reportedly instituted a penalty of $15,000 per container for misdeclaration," it said.

CWT Globelink was formed in 1988 to provide international freight forwarding services. "We have evolved over the years to become a leading NVOCC operator in Asia," it said.
