CMA CGM hikes Asia-North Europe rates, but cancels Kuwait surcharge

FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has raised shipping rates on the Asia-North Europe route while dropping a congestion surcharge that applied to Kuwait cargo.
From April 16 Asia-North Europe will be US$900 per TEU, $1,700 per FEU, $1,750 per FEU high cube and $1,750 per reefer FEU, the company said.
These new FAK rates will apply from all Asian ports including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh to all Northern European ports including the UK and the full range from Portugal to Finland and Estonia.
It applies to all dry cargo, out of gauge shipments, paying empties, breakbulk and reefer cargo.
At the same time CMA CGM has cancelled the congestion surcharge applicable to Shuwaikh and Shuaiba, Kuwait.
"Considering the evolution of the port congestion in Kuwait, where situation has improved both in Shuwaikh and Shuaiba, CMA CGM has decided to cancel the port congestion surcharge with immediate effect," said the company statement.
