Asia-Europe rates surge 11.6pc to US$893 per TEU, USWC slump 9.2pc at $1,370/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday increased by an impressive 11.6 per cent to US$893 per TEU.
However, Asia-Mediterranean rates skyrocketed by more than 40 per cent to $1,083 per TEU, according to theShanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai to US west coast took a 9.2 per cent hit, shedding $139 to $1,370 per FEU while China-US east coast were down 4.8 per cent to $2,512 per FEU.
