OCEAN Network Express (ONE), which began operations of April 1, has taken delivery of its first newbuilding at the Imabari Shipbuilding's Hiroshima yard.

The 14,000 TEU One Minato is painted in the new container line's distinctive magenta colouring. The vessel was originally ordered by "K" Line, one of the three partners in the ONE joint venture, and was planned to be named Minato Bridge, reports Seatrade Maritime News of Colchester, UK.

ONE is a merger of the container line businesses of NYK, MOL and "K" and is the world's sixth largest container line.

Meanwhile, ONE has appointed five senior executives to oversee operations in East Asia, South Asia, Europe and Africa, North America and Latin America.

"To be a truly global organisation and shipping line, ONE believes its work force should have people with international orientation, outlook and background to ensure the service quality that we give is really supporting global trade," said chief executive officer Jeremy Nixon.

"These regional executives bring to us their diverse experience and will significantly contribute to the operations and business growth of ONE globally."

Shunichiro Mizukami is currently the managing director for East Asia and based in Hong Kong. His area of his responsibility covers China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Colin de Souza is the regional head for South Asia and based in Singapore. He is in charge of the Indian Sub-continent, Middle East, Oceania and Southeast Asia.
