Transworld buys 4,872-TEU box ship for US$10.65 million

THE Transworld Group has bought its largest containership to date, after paying Conti Reederei US$10.65 million for the 11-year-old 4,872-TEU Ontario II.
According to Alphaliner, the Daewoo-built ship will be renamed OEL Badrinath and is set to be deployed this month on a service operated with CMA CGM's subsidiary, ANL, reported Singapore's Splash 247.
The current largest vessels belonging to Transworld are the 4,252-TEU sister ships OEL Jumeirah and SSL Brahmaputra, both bought three years ago.
The fleet of this Indian group, which also controls brands such as Orient Express Lines (OEL) and Shreyas, now stands at 19 containerships, with capacities ranging from 676 to 4,872 TEU.
