THE American Council of Engineering Companies - the voice of America's engineering industry - now urges the US Government deploy the talent and expertise of America's engineers during the coronavirus pandemic re-build national transport infrastructure.

"The engineering industry should design now so we can build later. Congress must focus stimulus not only help those damaged by the COVID-19, but also to help businesses and employees regain their economic foothold," said Linda Bauer Darr, president and CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies.

"America mobilised to win World War II, and we worked together to regain our national spirit after September 11," she said, reported the American Journal of Transpiration.

"However, the decision by several state governors to halt infrastructure-related construction projects is counterproductive and promises tremendous economic disruption," Ms Bauer Darr said.

"Now is not the time to shut these projects off. It's time to leverage them further. Continued progress on ongoing infrastructure projects will provide a much needed and strong economic footing when the inevitable recovery commence," she said.
