A 38-year-old Filipino cook was medevacked from the Hong Kong-flagged 8,600-TEU Maersk Lamanai anchored off Algeciras with coronavirus symptoms. The ship then resumed its voyage to Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
He was taken to hospital, while the ship remained anchored, interrupting the ship's scheduled voyage after the master reported a sick crewman with virus symptoms, reported Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, which specialises in marine casualties.
The Russian crew of a Cypriot-flagged bitumen asphalt tanker, the 9,230-dwt Asphalt Transporter, tested negative for coronavirus after the master, aged 33, suffered from respiratory problems, was taken to hospital in Manila, where he also tested negative for the virus.
The Philippines Maritime Authorities said the tanker interrupted her voyage from Kaohsiung Taiwan to Newcastle Australia, and headed for Mati port, southeast Luzon. The master was taken off the ship and was flown to Manila. The ship resumed its voyage same day.
