    LNG exports slip by 0.9pc in March to 30.4 million tons on 524 ships

    GLOBAL exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in March slipped 0.9 per cent year on year to 30.4 million tons on board 524 vessels.

    Some 32.7 million tons arrived on 519 vessels at import terminals in March, compared to 30.5 million tons in March 2019.

    The number of floating LNG cargoes remained volatile last month, with the highest number of vessels coming on March 26 at a count of 19.

    East Asia took in 16.5 million tons of LNG in March, higher than 15.7 million tons the region took in during March 2019. For South Asia, the 3.3 million tons imported in March represented seven per cent increase from year-ago levels.

    The Asia-Pacific region exported about 7.5 million tons of LNG in March, 800,000 tons more than in February and up 10 per cent year on year. Exports from the Arab Gulf came in at eight million tons, higher than the February pace of 7.8 million tons.

    North America exports in March are up 80 per cent on a year-on-year basis to 4.6 million tons, and 200,000 tons higher than in February 2020. Northern Russia loaded 1.7 million tons last month, up by 100,000 tons from February and a jump from the 100,000 tons loaded in March 2019.
