MSC delays start of new Panama Canal emergency surcharge hike

THE Panama Canal Emergency Surcharge (PCE) increase that was scheduled to go into effect on April 23 by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has been postponed until May 1.
The increase to US$30 per TEU will remain applicable from Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Bolivia, reported AJOT.
To: US east coast and US Gulf coast: $30/TEU for all cargo moved from South America's west coast to the North America east coast and Gulf.
