FedEx keeps staff as China orders stack up

FEDEX CEO Frederick Smith says the company has a backlog of orders to be shipped to and from China, and has dismissed talk of any staff layoffs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking on a CBS programme from its home base in Memphis, the shipping giant is busy moving items such as hospital equipment and hand sanitizer around the globe.
As for packages delivered by the company, Mr Smith said the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC) says there is a low risk of the disease being transmitted that way.
FedEx is no longer requiring signatures for packages. The company also is cleaning its facilities, he said.
"I think the risk is low and we're doing everything we can," Mr Smith said.
