Asia-Europe rates up 4.4pc to US$863/TEU, USWC soar 25pc at $2,097/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending last Friday increased by 4.4 per cent to US$863 per TEU.
Asia-Mediterranean rates surged 5.1 per cent at $924 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai to US west coast rose by a staggering 25 per cent to $2,097 per FEU while China-US east coast increased by 7.4 per cent to $2,732 per FEU.
