India braces for dock strike after JNPT truckers walk out

A COMMON front of harbour unions want solutions to "three core job issues", on which it says authorities agreed last August, reports IHS Media.
Now the union threatens a nationwide strike from May 28, increasing pressure on authorities to find a solution to the truckers dispute at Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), where a new logistics reform resulted in a recent four-day truck stoppage.
Union dockers seek higher wages and benefits they say have not been revised since the expiration of the previous contract in December 2016.
