LUXEMBOURG-BASED all-cargo airline Cargolux has updated the livery of one of its Boeing 747-8 freighters to include a surgical mask on the nose door.

The paint scheme is intended to highlight the "airline's commitment to the fight against Covid-19", Cargolux stated.

It also features the words "not without my mask" on the side of the fuselage. The carrier unveiled the new livery on the B747-8F (registration LX-VCF) on August 23.

This latest livery change is the dedicated freight operator's second in recent weeks. In mid-July, Cargolux unveiled a retro livery on a 747-400ERF to celebrate the airline's 50th anniversary, reports London's Air Cargo News.

LX-NCL was painted with a design "inspired by Cargolux's first airplanes in the 1970s". The carrier lists 30 aircraft in its fleet: 14 747-8Fs, 11 747-400Fs, and five 747-400ERFs.

While demand for air cargo services has dropped during the coronavirus pandemic, a capacity crunch has been created by the lack of belly capacity available amid a fall in passenger services. In many cases, this has benefited dedicated freight operators.
