A-E rate up 10pc to US$1,029/TEU, USWC up 5.8pc to $3,639/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday rose 10 per cent to US$1,029 per TEU.
Asia-Mediterranean rates rose six per cent at $1,060 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai to US west coast rose 5.8 per cent to $3,639 per FEU while rates to the east coast increased 6.4 per cent to $4,207 per FEU.
