Port of Valencia posts 4.35pc TEU increase in January

THE Port of Valencia posted a 4.3 per cent year-on-year increase in January box volume to 467,103 TEU, and 8.36 per cent jump in overall throughput to 7,712,049 tonnes, reports St Petersburg's PortNews.
Full containers grew 4.18 per cent, while cargo export increased 11.79 per cent. The levels are at the levels of August to December 2020, when the average annual growth of export TEU was 11 per cent.
The month began with an import decrease of 0.53 per cent, while transit containers grew 3.33 per cent and empty containers increased 4.89 per cent.
The ports managed by the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) are the primary channel for the goods and services industry, with 60 per cent of the goods entering and leaving Spain passing their way to one of the 1,000 ports the Valencian port area is connected.
