ENVIRONMENTAL lobby GoodShipping has announced that it collaborating with Japanese-owned but Singapore-based Ocean Network Express (ONE) to advance biofuel in its CO2 reduction programme.

In a recent trial with ONE, the 4,803-TEU MOL Experience was refuelled with biofuel at Rotterdam while carrying cargo for Dopper, Blygold, Geelen Counterflow, Yumeko, North Actionsports Group, Srface and Zaytoun.

Supplied by GoodShipping's sister company GoodFuels, the biofuel delivers an 80-90 per cent well-to-exhaust carbon reduction compared to fossil fuel equivalents, and that also eliminates virtually all SOx emissions, said the press release.

Said GoodShipping's Katarin van Orshaegen: "Shipping needs forward-looking, environmentally-conscious companies to help facilitate the shift to alternative fuels as the sector moves towards decarbonisation."
