BOEING's 737 Max is expected to return to service at United Airlines, after a record-long grounding prompted by two deadly crashes, reports Bloomberg News.

United is planning two dozen flights on the Max from its hub in Denver and Houston, less than two months since American Airlines began operating the plane again between Miami and New York on a single route.

The flights further the gradual return of Boeing's best-selling plan after a 20-month flying ban. The Max accounts for 80 per cent of backlog orders and represents the company's only offering in the crucial single-aisle market.

United is scheduled to operate 566 Max flights this month, with the tally expected increase to 2,000 in March.

Seven airlines have scheduled 3,996 Max flights this month globally, up from four carriers than made 2,450 flights in January. Some 8,700 Max trips are scheduled next month.
