SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) cargo has launched a temperature-sensitive perishable service, reports London's Air Cargo World.

Oman Air announced it had also met the IATA CEIV Fresh standard.

ThruFresh service enables the "swift" delivery of delicate perishables products, including live seafood, chilled meats, fruit and vegetables, said SIA.

Features of the service include dedicated cold chain procedures and facilities to help maintain the freshness of produce.

The launch of ThruFresh follows the carrier recently receiving the IATA CEIV Fresh certification.

Said SIA vice president Chin Yau Seng: "Our service will provide customers with reassurance that perishables will be delivered reliably and handled with the utmost care throughout the journey."

Said IATA vice president Nick Careen: "With Singapore being a major hub, CEIV Fresh certification will give perishable shippers confidence that cold-chain logistics requirements are being met."

Said Oman Air CEO Abdulaziz Al Raisi: "The certification marks the culmination of a tremendous effort by our dedicated teams to advance Oman Air's capabilities in the transport of time and temperature sensitive products."
