Shenzhen Yantian 2020 volume up 2.1pc to 13.5 million TEU

SHENZHEN's Yantian International Container Terminal a posted at 2.1 per cent year-on-year increase in 2020 container throughput to 13.35 million TEU.
This month also marked a milestone in Yantian's history when it surpassed an annual throughput of more than 200 million TEU since 1994 when it first opened.
This is the shortest time period for a container terminal to handle 200 TEU from its opening, claimed the operator, Yantian International Container Terminals.
In January 2013, Yantian international container terminal recorded handling 100 million TEU and reached 200 million TEU in February 2021.
Currently, the Yantian terminal has 20 large size deep-water container berths and has become one of the busiest container ports in the Asia-Pacific region.
Yantian has added 11 shipping routes in 2020, covering Africa, Australia, and South America. The import container volume of Yantian international container terminal increased 25 per cent year-on-year. Each week, it offers nearly 100 shipping services to the major ports all over the world.
