THE Latin America (LATAM) Cargo Group carried seven per cent more flowers than in 2020 during the 2021 Valentine¡¯s Day season, totaling more than 13,2000 tons, reports the American Journal of Transportation.

The figures are a result of the cargo group¡¯s uninterrupted operations in Colombia and Ecuador that many companies faced during the Covid crisis.

However, the group has increased its online offering to satisfy customer needs that depend on connectivity and exports to sustain their businesses.

The company carried seven per cent more tons per week during the Valentine¡¯s Day season in Colombia. Meanwhile, in Quito and Ecuador, capacity was added to transport the flower production to Miami, causing the number of tons carried each week by seven per cent.

It also raised capacity to Amsterdam, the second destination for Ecuadorian flowers.

"It is in times of difficulty like the current pandemic that our commitment to our customers is demonstrated. Not only do we offer the best transportation options by prioritising the use of all-cargo aircraft and adding passenger aircraft for transporting flowers exclusively," said LATAM Cargo Group Commercial vice president Claudio Torres.

"We also added new frequencies to take fresh flowers from Colombia and Ecuador to the world, thus supporting our customers¡¯ businesses," said Mr Torres.
