GROUNDHANDLER Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has opened a new 250,000-tonne capacity cargo terminal at Brussels Airport, reports London¡¯s Air Cargo News.

The new 25,000-square metre facility is being added on to the existing 11,000-square metre warehouse and office operation at the airport which opened in 2019.

The new terminal will incorporate a pharma zone, a perishable handling facility, and will house an EU border inspection post. The terminal also has security access controls and cargo screening technologies.

WFS¡¯ clients in Brussels include Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways, IAG Group, Air France KLM Cargo and United Airlines.

"Brussels Airport and its cargo community are very progressive. WFS is taking the leading role in providing the market with a product and digital tools which meet the requirements of modern-day cargo handling, and which gives us the capacity to grow. We believe more airlines will choose to partner with us," said senior vice president of commercial Marc Claesen.
