NETHERLANDS-BASED Wholesale by Vels has partnered with Australia's Consol Alliance to offer weekly, trade only, unitised airfreight consolidations between Schiphol and major Australian airports that will offer forwarders with "a flexible, helpful service".
The two companies expect frequencies to increase over the coming months and are also looking to introduce import services from Australia to Europe. Forwarders can either use the service's master air waybill, or their own.
The service caters for dangerous goods, e-commerce and general cargo, with discounts for dense cargo under 6,000 cubic centimetres per kilogramme in volume, reports UK's The Loadstar.
Wholesale by Vels has set up receiving and build-up facilities in Amsterdam, while Consol has handling centres in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Rinaldo Vels, founder, said: "This is still a challenging time for forwarders trying to support their customers. Carrier rates are generally high, capacity is limited, and service is often less than optimal.
"In the midst of a pandemic, we have managed to identify and bond with the ideal partner that possesses the knowledge, experience, resources and market influence to produce a game-changing service. Working together, we are determined to restore quality and reliability, as well as value for money, to airfreight between Europe and Australia.
"Our goal is to support our trade customers and provide them with the best possible tools to go out and win more business. No wholesale operator should regard this route as theirs by right: you're only as good as your last service. We think it's time for a market re-set."
