Containership collides with Panamax bulk carrier in Singapore Strait

The 1,060-TEU Singapore-flagged Sinar Solo has collided collided with Liberia-flagged bulk carrier Taho Australia of 81,788 dwt in the Singapore Strait at 11.30pm off Lagoi, northern Bintan Island, Indonesia, reports Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, which specialises in marine casualties.
The 15,218-dwt containership, managed by Indonesia's Samudera shipping, sustained starboard damage in cargo deck area, several containers understood to be damaged. The bulker suffered superficial damage and shortly after accident, was allowed to resume voyage
The bulker, managed by Taipei's Ta-Ho Maritime Corp, was en route from Santos, Brazil to China. The smaller box ship was anchored near collision site and later before moving to a Singapore anchorage.
