Wan Hai continues secondhand boxship buying spree

WAN HAI has purchased a 2016-built 1,708-TEU containership Box Express from Allseas Marine for US$40.8 million, spending $16 million more than the Greek owner Guangzhou Wenchong for the newbuild, reports Isao Naruoka/Marine Traffic.
The deal came a few days after a $200 million investment plan was announced in a Taiwan Stock Exchange filing.
The specialist also recently confirmed spending $41 million on the 2019-built 1,774-TEU Filia T.
Wan Hai has been busy in 2021, adding secondhand boxship tonnage and ordering newbuilds, with an order book standing at 42 ships.
