Drewry's composite World Container Index increases 1.4pc

DREWRY's composite World Container Index increased 1.4 per cent to US$9,544.66 per FEU recently, reports Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide.
The index remains 82 per cent higher than a year ago.
Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam gained three per cent or $370 to reach $14,028 per FEU.
Rates from Shanghai to Los Angeles increased one per cent to reach $10,621 per FEU and Shanghai to New York surged two per cent to reach $13,771 per FEU.
However, rates from Rotterdam to Shanghai fell two per cent to $1,524 per FEU, and Rotterdam to New York fell one per cent to reach $6,233 per FEU.
The index remains 82 per cent higher than a year ago.
