Panama Ports pass 8 million TEU milestone in 2021

PANAMA ports have seen record growth and cargo volume in 2021, reaching 8.62 million TEU, an increase of 11.5 per cent compared to 7.73 million TEU in 2020, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
Various terminals registered double-digit growth, the highest, 47.5 per cent, being at Evergreens Colon Container Terminal (CCT) with 1.05 million TEU.
CCTs higher throughput is because of new service calls from the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
Bocas Fruit, a terminal specialised in banana exports saw volumes increase 23 per cent to 144,520 TEU at Balboa.
