SINOKOR Merchant Marine sold four panamax box ships to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) for US$350 million, earning a seven-fold profit, reports London's Loadstar.

Brokers declared that at the end of January, MSC bought the 2005-built 7,471-TEU Baltic Bridge, 2010-built 4,432-TEU Baltic South, 2006-built 4,298-TEU North Bridge, and 2002-built 4,253-TEU Singapore Bridge.

Sinokor operates on intra-Asia lanes and tends to deploy feeder and sub-panamax vessels.

Sinokor acquired North Bridge for $14.8 million in 2014, Baltic Bridge for $14 million in 2017, Baltic South for $10 million, and Singapore Bridge for $7.9 million, both in 2019.

MSC acquired 411,000 TEU of capacity last year, mostly through second-hand purchases.

The Swiss-Italian liner giant now has an aggregate capacity of 4.31 million TEU, of which 1.6 million is owned, with another 1.2 million TEU in its order book.
