TAIWAN's Maritime Port Bureau (MPB) wants to dispel concerns that the Covid-19 in Kaohsiung port will affect container operations, reports Jacksonville's Container News.

Ningbo-Zhoushan and Shenzhen, two of the world's 10 busiest ports, saw operations interrupted by Covid lockdowns.

But despite an outbreak in the Port of Kaohsiung, the MPB said normal operations are continuing and a stepped-up testing regime been set up aimed at preventing transmission of the disease.

Taiwan International Ports Corporation, which manages many of Taiwan's ports, has mandated that any personnel boarding any ships in Kaohsiung will have to wear personal protection equipment (PPE) and be disinfected prior to embarkation, 24 hours a day.
