A mine-like object was reported in the northern end of the Port of Odessa, a shipping corridor that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to safeguard, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The object was reported at the narrow strip of the sea through which the deal allows vessels to enter and exit Ukrainian Black Sea ports.

The vessels will report back soon, and the Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) declared it would discuss "subsequent authorisations of vessels and actions" without providing further details.

The JCC didn't say whether transit through the corridor had been halted.

The JCC is composed of United Nations, Ukrainian, Turkish and Russian officials set up to oversee implementation of the deal.

It has resulted in the safe export of millions of tons of grain that was bottled up earlier in the war.

In recent weeks, Russia expressed unhappiness with how the deal has been implemented, causing worry among officials, executives and markets that it could pull out.

The UN and Ukraine hope to extend the deal beyond its November deadline.
