China's January-September LNG imports down 20.2pc

CHINA's January to September Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) imports were down 20.2 per cent year on year, reports LNG Prime of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Data from the General Administration of Customs show that the country received 46.51 million tonnes in the period under review, compared to 58.48 million tonnes last year.
China's LNG imports dropped due to high spot LNG prices and Covid crisis lockdowns.
In September, China took 5.90 million tonnes of LNG, down 11.6 per cent compared to last year. September imports rose compared to the prior month's 4.72 million tonnes.
On the other hand, China's pipeline gas imports increased from January to September. Pipeline imports rose 10.5 per cent to 34.66 million tonnes, while in September, these imports increased 9.8 per cent to 4.25 million tonnes.
China became the world's largest LNG importer last year, overtaking Japan. During the January to September period, Japan imported 55.27 million tonnes of LNG, 8.7 million tonnes more than China.
