Heathrow United Airlines staff to vote on strike over pay

UNITED Airlines Holdings faces potential disruption as 300 workers at London's Heathrow airport begin voting in a strike ballot over pay, reports Bloomberg.
The staff vote employed in operations, customer services, and baggage handling will run until October 11.
United's UK employees are in dispute with the US company over what Unite calls real-term pay cuts amid a cost-of-living crisis.
It has said the carrier offered a five per cent raise this year plus an additional payment, followed by four per cent in 2023.
¡°To make matters worse, bosses want to tear up a long-standing agreement barring the use of outsourced workers," said Unite general secretary Sharon Graham.
¡°These are red lines the workers won't cross."
The union said disruption at United would threaten 18 flights into Heathrow daily.
United Airlines continues to hold talks with Unite to reach an agreement.
The ballot at United comes after Unite declared it would poll 50 Heathrow-based maintenance staff at American Airlines Group on possible strikes over a pay offer.
In another UK labour dispute, 2,000 Arriva bus drivers in London will begin action over pay from October 4.
Orsted A/S off-shore wind-farm workers based in Barrow-in-Furness and Birkenhead, northern England, will meanwhile strike for four days.
