ONLINE booking portal Freightos has seen a rapid increase in the number of bookings it has registered as the platform has continued to add airlines, while the industry adapts to a digital environment, reports London's Air Cargo News.
Freightos recorded a 154.3 per cent year-on-year increase in transactions to 668,185 in 2022, while in the fourth quarter, the number of transactions reached 211,000 compared with 97,000 in 2021 and 22,000 in 2020.
"This growth was supported by an increase in both demand - users booking across the platform - and supply - carriers offering their services on the platform," said Freightos.
"The number of unique buyer users digitally booking freight services across the Freightos platform grew 37 per cent compared to quarter four 2021, reaching 15,600. Carriers selling on the platform, primarily on WebCargo, grew to 35 in the fourth quarter 2022, a 25 per cent growth from the same quarter in the prior year."
The company declared that it experienced record platform transactions for every one of the previous 12 quarters.
The gross booking value of transactions made on the platform increased 102 per cent year on year to US$610.8 million.
