Tugs refloat grounded 8,566-TEU MSC Elaine in Gioia Tauro

THE 8,566-TEU MSC Elaine had been outbound on January 9 with the aid of two port tugs from the terminal when it veered off course and got grounded on the southern breakwater at the Port of Gioia Tauro, reports MI News Network.
The vessel temporarily blocked the port from other shipping traffic by blocking the harbour entrance and holding eight boats at the terminals.
Five harbour tugs and a port authority-operated patrol vessel was sent to get the ship out of the breakwater.
MSC Elaine was eventually refloated and was anchored outside the harbour on January 11.
